Orders to conduct departmental inquiry into Dy. PI Chandrakant Bendre

Issue of Sanatan Prabhat’s reporter Rahul Kolhapure taken into custody at Satara and devotees manhandled till their clothes were torn

Satara : ‘Sanatan Prabhat’s reporter, Shri. Rahul Kolhapure had gone for immersion of Shri Ganesh idol with his family members on 10th September and he was taken into custody by police without any rhyme or reason. Dy. Police Inspector Chandrakant Bendre from Shahupuri police station had manhandled few devotees till their clothes got torn. On 13th September, local ‘Hindutvavadis’ lodged a complaint with District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandip Patil, who had promised them to conduct departmental inquiry into the matter. Accordingly, DSP Patil has now issued orders to conduct departmental inquiry of Dy PI Chandrakant Bendre. Shahupuri police station has written to Sanatan Prabhat’s reporter Shri. Rahul Kolhapure and few devotees, for more details.

It was the fifth day of Ganeshotsav on 10th September and immersion day; therefore, devotees had crowded the private Mangalwar Lake for immersion of idols. Local police administration, however, prohibited them to immerse idols in the lake, giving reason that there was ban on using traditional way for immersion of idols. Shri. Rahul Kolhapure, ‘Sanatan Ptabhat’s reporter who had also gone there for immersion, showed different papers related to immersion of idols, to the police and tried to explain the matter but police intimidated him and took him into custody.
