HJS conducts special ‘satsang’ during ‘annadan’ program at Chennai

Chennai : Recently ‘Vivekanand Nivasi Sanstha’ organized food donation program at Kolatur, Chennai on the occasion of ‘Tirupati Kodai’. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held a special ‘satsang’ on the occasion. Every year, devotees offer a ‘kaude’ to Tirupati Balaji; ‘kaude’ means a decorated umbrella / cover. When this ‘kaude’ is taken to intended place, its ‘puja’ is performed at temples or public places on the way and programs like ‘anna-daan (donation of food / food courts)’ are arranged. One such program was held at Kolatur. Sou. Sugandhi Ravikumar and Sou. Uma Ravichandran conducted the ‘satsang’. An exhibition of books on ‘Achar- Dharma’, importance of ‘Pitru-paksha’ and ‘Navaratri’ was held at the venue.

One of the sponsors, who is a businessman from Tamil Nadu, showed interest in sponsoring 500 Tamil ‘Panchangs’.

Highlights

1. Loudspeakers were provided at the venue of the program. Few women from neighborhood came for the ‘satsang’ as they heard few words from the lecture on loudspeaker. Two house-wives attending the program, showed interest in buying every book kept on exhibition.

2. A Gujarati woman had back trouble and while returning home from work, was on her way to her doctor. She reached the place where ‘satsang’ was being held and she sat for ‘satsang for some time. She said that after attending ‘satsang’, her back trouble was completely gone.

3. The priest from the temple had no idea about his ‘Kul-devata’; so didn’t know which Goddess’ name was to be chanted. One of the devotees asked relevant question and answer was given during ‘satsang’ that also cleared the doubt of the priest.
