HJS’ Chitrarath spreading awareness about preserving Hindu culture bags prizes in Shimgotsav competition

Panaji (Goa):
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s float (Chitrarath) providing information on spreading awareness about preserving Hindu culture bagged consolation prizes worth Rs. 5000 at Margao Shimgotsav competition and Rs. 4000 at the Cuncoleim Shimgotsav competition. These competitions were organized by local Shimgotsav committess in association with the Tourism Department of the Government of Goa.

Such competitions were organized in 14 major cities in Goa, out of which the HJS participated in 7 cities. HJS’ float provided information about various aspects of Hindu culture, viz. Do not celebrate birthdays by cutting cake as per the western culture. Celebrate New Year on Gudhi Padwa day instead of 1st January, Greet by saying ‘Namaskar’ instead of ‘Hello’. Maintain the sanctity of holy places, etc. At this time, handbills providing information about the celebration of Gudhi Padwa as per the scriptures were distributed.
