Pune : Shri. Sandip Khardekar, city -Vice President of BJP was of the view that considering the present tense relations with Pakistan, attacks by terrorists and Pakistan continuously creating mischief on the borders, films with Pakistani artists should not be released here. A meeting was arranged with office bearers of Pune Exhibitors’ Association on this issue. The theatre-owners were of the opinion that they too were opposed to show films in which Pakistani artists had enacted; but in this case, even the distributors should take supportive stand.

On 7th October, BJP’s city executive committee members Shri. Maheshrao Ladakat, Dr. Rajendra Khedekar, Shri. Rahul Deshpande, Shri. Rajabhau Shendage, Shri. Nilesh Ghodake, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s Maharashtra State Coordinator Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, Shri. Chaitanya Tagade; Shri. Sadanand Mohol, the President of Pune Exhibitors’ Association, its Secretary Vivek Damle and Shri. Prakash Chaphalkar, Secretary of ‘All-India Multiplex Theatres’ Association were present for the meeting.

Shri. Sadanand Mohol said that they also agreed with the sentiments expressed by people about boycotting films in which Pakistan artists have enacted; but theatre-owners have entered into contracts with the film-distributors and large sums have been given as advance. That amount should be returned by the distributors; so also, the theatre-owners should not be harassed by connecting issues related to film viz. ‘Ai Dil Hai Mushkil’ with screening of other films. On this, Sandip Khardekar and Mahesh Kadakat said that discussions would be held with distributors and they will be explained people’s sentiments along with the position of theatre-owners. It was explained that the matter would be discussed with Guardian Minister Girish Bapat in the coming week before declaring the decision.
