Dy. District Collector orders to take stringent action against Dy. PI Chandrakant Bedare !

Issue regarding unnecessarily taking Shri. Rahul Kolhapure, a reporter of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ into custody by police at the time of immersion of Ganesh idols

Satara : Dy Police Inspector (PI) Chandrakant Bedare had spitefully taken action against Shri. Rahul Kolhapure, the reporter of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ at the time of immersion of Ganesh idols. Dy. District Collector Sanjiv Deshmukh has now given orders to Superintendent of Police for taking stringent action against PI Bedare.

Devotees had crowded the private Mangalwar Lake on the 5th day of Ganeshotsav for immersion of idols. The local police administration prevented devotees from immersing their idols in the lake; claiming that there was ban on traditional immersion method. Shri. Rahul Kolhapure, who had also gone there for immersion of idol, tried to explain this issue to police and showed different legal papers indicating that there was no ban; but Dy. PI Chandrakant Bedare from Shahupuri police station intimidated Shri. Kolhapure and took him into custody. Local ‘Hindutvavadi’ activists gathered in Shahupuri police station but police took a firm stand on not allowing devotees to immerse idols in Mangalwar Lake; bullying ‘Hindutvavadis’ and threatening devotees so also Shri. Kolhapure with filing of cases against them. Later, all local pro-Hindu organizations submitted representations to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police in this context.
