PCLM ask Church to stop conversion drive

New Delhi:  A Christian organization, Poor Christian Liberation Movement (PCLM) has demanded the Church leadership to give participation to Dalit Christian. President of Poor Christian Liberation Movement (PCLM) R L Francis, while addressing a meeting on the successful completion of ten years of the movement today, demanded better treatment to the Dalit Christians.
 
Mr. Francis in a press statement called upon the supporters, sympathizers and activists of the movement throughout the country that Dalit Christians will have to prepare for a long drawn struggle for their right in the Church organizations. He expressed concern over the rising tension among other communities of the country owing to conversion activities and also demanded that ‘Evangelism’ be postponed at least for hundred years and millions of dollars being spent on it should be utilized to improve living conditions of Dalit Christian in the country.
 
Leaders of the movement were unanimous today opposed the Ranganath Misra Commission report and asked the church leadership to stop strengthening casteism in the church of the country. We oppose the implementation of this report.” Terming it as contrary to the principles of Christianity, he said it will ”legalise” caste system in Christianity. Caste was not recognized under the Canon laws.
