Panaji (Goa): The devout Hindus of Mapusa, Panaji and Pedne have resolved to unite to safeguard temples. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had recently organized meetings of the local temple trustees and devout Hindu citizens at Mapusa, Panaji and Pedne. Those present at these meets made the above resolve. The Goa government through an assessment has made a list of unauthorized places of worship. This list seems to contain even 500-year old ancient temples. Considering an appeal from the citizens the government is re-assessing the list of unauthorized places of worship. In this context, the HJS has launched a state wide agitation to spread awareness amongst Hindus about safeguarding temples. The above meets were organized as a part of this agitation.
