Vrundava:The ‘Dharma-drohi’ priest of the famous ‘Banke-Bihari’ temple dressed up the idol of Lord Krishna in jeans and tee shirt. At many places like New Delhi, Agra, Mathura and Vrundavan etc., staunch Hindus held strong demonstrations against the priest for humanizing the Lord.
The main idea of dressing up the idol in such attire was of Shri. Anand Goswami, the chiefs priest. Although other priests were not in favor of his idea of dressing up the idol in such a manner, they could not do much due to the obstinacy of Shri. Goswami.
The matter was first brought to light by the local newspapers resulting in condemnation of Shri. Goswami by each and everyone. An effigy of Shri. Goswami was burnt at New Delhi, Agra and Mathura as a symbol of condemnation. The agitation had support of Bajarang Dal and VHP along with other Hindu organizations. Moreover, the members of the ruling Samajwadi party and BJP took active part in demonstrations.
