New Delhi : Trouble seems to be brewing for Zakir Naik and his NGO Islamic Research Foundation (IRF).
While the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is tightening its noose on the IRF after the ban on one hand, on the other, the IRF staff has resigned.
The NIA has not only seized documents and data from IRF’s premises, but also seized mobile phones of the main functionaries, like CEO Manzoor Shaikh and others on board of the trust. The mobile phone of Naik’ brother has also been seized.
According to sources, NIA questioned these officials on their role in the functioning of the IRF and has taken their phones to check the data.
A forensic test is also likely to be conducted on the phones to retrieve deleted data. A team of IT experts from Delhi are helping the NIA officials in Mumbai.
Fearing the impact of the ban on their careers, all the staff of IRF, including CEO Manzoor Shaikh, has given their resignation to an official identified as Shaukat Jamati on Thursday.
This is a huge setback to Zakir Naik as all the employees have sighted the current situation as the reason for their resignation. They have also asked for their pending dues.
