Impact of HJS Online Campaign: SBI withdraws the denigrating advertisement within half an hour

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) launched its protest against the said anti-Hindu act by launching an online protest campaign at the following link
https://www.hindujagruti.org/denigrations/successful/index.php?id=16 at 2 pm. Within half an hour the Samiti received an assurance of withdrawal of the advertisement and SBI MFsent a letter to the Samiti. Thereafter, it withdrew this advertisement from its website. Many Hindus telephonically lodged their protest with the bank against this denigrating advertisement .

State Bank of India (SBI) & Societe Generale of Asset Management, jointly, on its website for Mutual Funds at the following link http://www.sbimf.com/advtcampaign/sip/html/learning_SIP.asp?sip,ndtv,sip_lanka_ndtv_fixedbanner190x200 had made commercial use of the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’. The incident in the ‘Ramayana’, of Lord Hanuman and the ‘Vanars’ (Monkeys) building a bridge (Setu) by inscribing the name of ‘Lord Rama’ on every rock has been denigrated in this advertisement .In the said advertisement, Sree Hanuman inscribes Rs 500/- in English on every rock and throws them in water where they are shown to float. In this manner, Lord Hanuman builds a bridge of rocks worth Rs. 500/-. The message put forth is that money multiplies in this manner through systematic efforts. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) in a memorandum to the State Bank of India, Mapusa, Goa on 15-09-2006, had complained about the hurting of the religious sentiments of Hindus through this advertisement and demanded for immediate withdrawal of the said advertisement with tendering of apology.
