Issue of sale of cows to butchers by Pandharpur Vitthal Mandir Samiti: HJS agitates at Yeotmal

Yeotmal (Maharashtra): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) along with other organizations like ‘Gayatri Parivar’, ‘Ganapati Devasthan Samiti’, BJP, Sanatan Sanstha, Bajarang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Shiv Sena, Ranaragini, ‘Pashudhan Suraksha Samiti’ etc. staged demonstrations protesting against Pandharpur Vitthal Mandir Samiti for disposing of the cows, received by way of offerings fron the devotees, to butcher. A demand was also made to dissolve this Samiti and hand over the management of the Temple to devotees. About 150 devout Hindus including Mr. Shrikrushna Bansod, Mr. Rajubhau Dange, Mr. Vijay Kotecha, Mr. Madanbhau Yerawar, Mr. Ram Bajaj, Mr. Ankush Bagmare, Mr. Dinesh Ninave, Mr. Dattabhau Kulkarni, Mr. Amol Dhone, Mr. Mahesh Dharmadhikari, Mr. Uday Kulkarni, Mr. Nilesh Deshmukh, Mr. Amol Deshmukh, Mr. Mangesh Khandel, Mr. Shyam Munde, Mr. Vivek Sajjanwar, Mr. Vishnupant Khade, Mr. Vilas Deshmukh, Mr. Manish Pande etc. took part in the agitation. More than 2500 devout Hindus signed the representation submitted to the District Collector. 

Highlights

The District Collector, while accepting the representation, said that they were trying to provoke people in this manner and he did not believe in the news published in the newspaper. (The District Collector has thus shown distrust in media which is supposed to be the fourth pillar of democracy and the journalists should ask for an explanation from the District Collector ! – Editor SP) He asked the delegation submitting the representation as to what were they doing about so many cows dying without water. (The cows received by the Temple in offering are to be taken care of by the management of the Temple for which the Temple receives lot of offerings even by way of money. The District Collector’s such question to the agitators is, therefore, unwarranted ! – Editor SP)
