HJS protests against Central Govt. for delay in approval of Savarkar Memorial in France

Hassan (Karnataka): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti held a protest in front of Hemavathi Statue opposing the  delay in giving clearance for setting up of a memorial of revolutionary freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (Veer Savarkar)  by Central Government.
   
Many devout Hindus, including youth from Sri Ram Sena  participated in the protest. Hassan district Hindu Janajagruti Samiti co-ordinator Mr. Suresh Herur addressed the protestors and told that the Central Government’s  delay in clearance for revolutionary freedom fighter Veer Savarkar’s  statue at France indicates that  it is not giving due respect to such a great person who has suffered untold miseries for the  Independence of the country. Veer Savarkar was the only freedom fighter who got a double term life imprisonment, out of which 11 years he underwent in solitary confinement in the dark.

Mr. Suresh Heruru  also mentioned as to how the academicians framing the syllabus have conveniently forgotten the role of Revolutionaries like Veer Savarkar and others in the NCERT and other syllabus, thereby depriving the youth the information on the sufferings the revolutionaries  underwent  to give  us freedom.

This inaction is not to be forgiven and now the time  has come for the people to force the Government to do the needful at the earliest.

Mr. Heruru also indicated as to how the Central Government brought out  a coin in commemoration of Saint Sister Alphonso,  who might have been active doing conversions, miracles etc. during the British Rule on the occassion of her  Birth centenary, while conveniently forgetting the historic jump by Veer Savarkar from the ship which is  completing 100 years on the 8th of July 2010. The Samiti demands appropriate commemmorative celebrations all over the country and inclusion of proper information of Veer Savarkar and other revolutionaries, he added.

Later the protestors handed over a memorandom to Hassan district collector with a copy to the Honourable President of India.
