Dy. DC asks departments to cooperate with HJS for ‘Respect National Flag’ drive

Success of HJS drive for prevention of abuse of national flags

Pune : General Administration Department of the State Government had issued a circular on 22nd August 2007, under instructions of the Governor. Accordingly, an order-cum-appeal was issued to the concerned officers of the Government, all District Collectors for maintaining honour of national flags and to avoid use of plastic national flags. Volunteers of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) met Nayab Tehasildar and submitted a representation to him on 20th January, based on the above circular. Dy. District Collector Rajendra Muthe took a note of the same and issued an order on 24th January to the Chief Officer, Zilha Parishada and officers of entertainment tax department advising them to take help of HJS for holding lectures in schools in Pune district and show video films in theatres for creating awareness amongst people towards this issue.

It has been stated in the order that

1. Create awareness amongst children through schools about use of national flags. Collect tattered and soiled national flags lying on the ground and strewn over roads. Later, hand them over to Revenue department.

2. Create awareness to stop use of plastic and paper national flags and put restrictions on its use.

3. Extend cooperation to HJS in distributing handbills in schools for prevention of abuse of national flags and to conduct quiz contests. Also extend help in showing video film made by HJS on maintaining honour of national flags in theatres in Pune district and by Cable operators.

Orders issued by concerned Govt. depts. to group-education officers and Cable operators

Dy. Chief Officer of Zilha Parishada has directed group education officers in the district to cooperate with HJS in holding lectures on maintaining honour of national flags and in conducting quiz contest in schools and distributing handbills on the subject. Also officers from entertainment-tax department in the district are to ask main 20 local Cable operators to show special VCD made by HJS.
