Kuala Lumpur : Hindraf leader P. Waytha Moorthy in his latest attempt to rid Malaysia of fugitive preacher Dr Zakir Naik is persistent as he sends a 21 page open letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak detailing Zakir Naik’s misdeed relating to terrorism and money laundering.
“Basically this letters says, look all of the information I have laid out in front of you, why are you still harbouring him.
“No one has responded to my letters that I have sent, stating that he is a threat to national security,” Waytha told The Malaysian Times (TMT) today.
Waytha said that this is in regards to the recent findings of the Indian authorities as well as the Pakistani authority that Zakir Naik is linked to a declared terrorist organization and that has been banned.
“In their website they had formally linked the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) (founded by Zakir Naik), so they have always been working with IRF and funding IRF.
“Which they are then linking IRF to their propaganda, the terrorist as this guy radicalizes people,” said Waytha.
He said the first three pages of this letter are crucial as it highlights most of the investigations and reports on televagelist Zakir Naik.
Waytha added that he had sent copies of this letter to the Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Home Minister, the Defence Minister, Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General.
He said the contents of the 21 pages also include articles that highlight the dangers of Zakir Naik from various news agencies both foreign and national.
In the letter, Waytha said: “To conclude in summary, Dr. Zakir Naik is a threat to National Security, Public Order, Peaceful co-existence of multi-racial and multi religious Malaysian community, a threat to the industrial, social, economic and educational conditions, an undesirable person and a person who would not be conducive to public moral and good values we Malaysians are trying hard to inculcate.
“Therefore, I strongly urge your administration to immediately give urgent attention to this matter which is a serious concern to all Malaysians.
“I urge you to immediately order the removal of Zakir Naik from Malaysian soil. The threat he poses to our National Security outweighs his unjustified presence in Malaysia,” reiterated Waytha in his letter, which was also forwarded to TMT.
This comes after several attempts was made by Hindraf to try and get the government to respond to the status of the preacher in the country, as well as, highlighting the threat he poses to the country and has been striving for his removal from the country as he is wanted by his home country for evading arrest and investigations under the terrorism laws and money laundering.
Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) is banned in India and he is also a wanted fugitive in India.
