NATIONAL Executive Council of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) cautioned the UPA Government to take adequate preventative measures ensuring that not a single Bangladeshi infiltrator gets Unique Identity Card after the census process is over.

"The presence of large number of illegal Bangladeshi nationals is a major threat to India’s sovereignty. Our demand is that the government should identify them and deport them to their nation. They are living in India illegally and there is every possibility that they will manage to secure even the Unique Identity Cards (UID), since the UPA Government is not taking the problem seriously," the National Council said in a resolution passed at the meeting.

The ABVP also alleged that the UPA government has cheated the nation on the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators as it is clandestinely helping them getting enrolled as Indian nationals in the National Population Register, data for which is being collected during the ongoing census.

Describing Naxalism as a severe form of terrorism the National Council said the spread of Naxal activities in as many as 230 districts of 14 states shows that it cannot just be a social and economic prob¬lem, it is an open war against the nation. "Naxalites are anti-nationals and they should be treated as enemy of the nation. They have termed dreaded terrorist Afzal as a hero on their website and are opposing the death sentence awarded to him. We appreciate the steps taken by Union Home Minister Shri P Chidambaram and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh to combat terrorism but it appears the Prime Minister has weak approach towards Naxalism. Therefore, we have decided to organise nation¬wide protest against Naxalite violence on June 4," said ABVP national president Shri Milind Marathe while addressing the meeting. He also criticised the environmen¬talist Medha Patekar, writer Arundhati Roy and many other so-called civil right activists as well as NGOs for supporting the Naxalites and their violent activities in the country. Shri Marathe demanded stern action against all such elements.

The way the Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has been supporting the activities of Naxalites, the National Council of ABVP demanded that the nexus between the Congress leader and the Naxalites should be investigated. The Council also condemned the attitude of Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand governments for refusing to implement the Operation Green Hunt started by the Centre against Naxalites.

Prominent environmen¬talist and Magsaysay Award winner Shri MC Mehta also attended the convention and criticised the hydro projects which are against the environ¬ment. He said Uttarakhand is a state of spiritual energy not for gen¬erating the power of energy.

The National Executive Council meeting took place in Dehradun from May 27 to 30. Presidents and general secretaries from various states participated in the meeting. In all 287 delegates took part in the meeting. Those who were present on the occasion were national gen-eral secretary Shri Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Shri Sunil Aambekar, Shri Surendran, Shri Kailash Sharma, Shri Ramnaresh, Shri Dharmpal, Shri Umed Singh Negi, and members of the WOSY and the SEIL.

Apart from discussing the UPA’s conspiracy to grant Indian citizenship to over four crore Bangladeshi infiltrators and naxalite violence, the meeting also discussed in details the threat of commercialisation of education, minority appeasement and global warming.

The National Executive Meeting also made it clear that violence against Hindi speaking students in different parts of the country would not be tolerated at all. We all are sons of soil and every¬one has right to live, earn livelihood everywhere includ¬ing Jammu & Kashmir. Linguistic discrimination is ridiculous, the Council said.

The meeting said the policies made by many State and Central Governments related to education have failed to provide quality edu¬cation to the economically deprived students. Criticising the Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal’s new educa¬tion policy, ABVP president Shri Milind Marathe said the poli¬cy is political moti¬vated and will not serve the purpose of poor students. "The Right to Education is just conversion of directive principles of the State. We welcome them, but it takes long time to make it law," he said. On the issue of entry of foreign university into India, he said only top ten rank universities should be allowed and the Government should make an Expert Committee to monitor their admission procedure, fee structure and other functioning.

ABVP general secretary Shri Vishnu Dutt Sharma said the ABVP would gherao the Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal at the meeting of State Education Ministers to be held on June 18 and 19 and would also submit memorandum on commer¬cialisation of education. He said the ABVP would also organise sem¬inars and workshops and awareness programmes against the efforts of opening campus of Aligarh Muslim University in five states.

Talking about the organisational strength of the ABVP he said the organisation is proud of being the world’s largest student association. We focus not only on the programmes for only students and educational institutions, but also on all aspects related to the education. Our entire approach is constructive. He further said that 17.80 lakh members were enrolled against the target of 20 lakh in 2009-10, including 5.4 girl members.

Talking about the 60 years of the ABVP, Shri Vishnu Dutt Sharma said during the last six decades the ABVP not only promoted patriotism among students but also gave them new direction for getting involved in constructive activities. Through our activities not only many separatist movements were exposed but also the feeling of national integration got strengthened.

About the minority appeasement, the National Council clearly said that politics of minority appeasement has caused much damage to the nation. "The time has come when we should completely stop dividing the society in the name of religion and repeal even the Article 30 from the Constitution, as it promotes division in the country. Apart from it all the government departments like National Minority Development and Financial Corporation (NMDFC), National Commission for Minorities (NCM), National Council for Minority Education (NCMI) and the Ministry for Minority Affairs, etc. should be scrapped forthwith. Not only this, all the proposals for reservation to Muslims should be rejected immediately. The time has come when the government needs to implement uniform civil code all over the country," a resolution adopted at the meeting said.
