Mumbai: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has made a demand through a letter written to the Director, Post and Telegraph Department that a stamp should be published depicting the scene of Afzal Khan’s slaying by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It has been mentioned in the letter that ‘India was continuously invaded by foreigners and people had to live under suppression. In such situation, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established Hindvi Swaraj relieving people from foreign containment. He showed great valour during freedom fight and slew Afzal Khan. It will be 350 years since that incident took place. The Indian Government should, therefore, publish a stamp to commemorate the incident. This will be inspiring and motivating for the citizens of this country.’

A detailed letter narrating the incident, a picture and information about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been sent, by post, to the Government by Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the District Co-ordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad.
