Petition filed in HC against police not removing illegal loudspeakers on mosques

The Government and police are expected to take action on their own against unauthorized loudspeakers fitted on mosques but citizens have to give legal battle for the same which is most shameful ! Only in Hindu Rashtra, justice will be done to citizens ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat

Thane : Loudspeakers on mosque near M H High School are creating disturbance in students’ studies and they should be removed, was the demand made by a social worker Dr. Mahesh Bedekar; however, police didn’t take any action; therefore, Dr. Bedekar has filed a petition in High Court for ‘Contempt of Court’ against Thane police and the State Government. Its hearing is expected to be held on 17th March.

1. Dr. Mahesh Bedekar has been fighting against noise pollution for the past 8-10 years. Based on his petition, Mumbai High Court instructed the Government, police and District Collectors to put curb over noise pollution.

2. A mosque near M H High School gives ‘baang’ every day in the morning, afternoon and    evening using loudspeakers. The noise is creating disturbance in children’s studies, was the complaint lodged by few alert citizens with Dr. Bedekar.

3. The area of M H High School comes under ‘Silent’ zone and any kind of noise pollution is prohibited in that area; then why did police grant permission for loudspeakers despite the above position, asked Dr. Bedekar.

4. Police replied to him that such permission was not given; therefore, Dr. Bedekar requested that the unauthorized loudspeakers should then be removed; but police took no action and hooters are sounded at same high decibels.

5. Despite a written complaint, police are not taking any action as per the law; therefore, Dr. Bedekar had to file a petition in Mumbai High Court.

6. It has been stated in the petition that Court’s orders are not being followed by Thane police and necessary action should be taken against them. Police Commissioner Parambir Singh of Thane, senior Police Inspector Pophale of Naupada police station and the State Government have been made as Respondents. 7. Court has passed an order on 14th March for delay in taking action against noise pollution in Ulhasnagar. The ‘Contempt of Court’s notice has been issued against Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Nimbalkar of Ulhasnagar, Thane Police Commissioner Parambir Singh and Thane District Collector, Mahendra Kalyankar.

8. Thane police have started collecting reports on loudspeakers on mosques which are causing noise pollution; after filing of the above ‘Contempt of Court’ petition and soon action will be taken, was the information given by reliable sources from Police Department.

Police take prompt action in the name of noise pollution against loudspeakers fitted during religious festivals of Hindus but police and Government does not show guts to take action against noise pollution caused by loudspeakers on mosques, despite Court’s orders and citizens’ complaints. Will such police be able to protect citizens ? Now citizens want the Court to take action against such police and administrative officers ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat
