Hindus demand complete ban on liquor at Shri-Kshetra Tuljapur

Representation submitted by devotees to local administration

For maintaining sanctity of temples like Tuljapur, hand over management to devotees !

Dharashiv : The State Government should declare Tuljapur town as free of liquor and maintain sanctity of this place of pilgrimage, is the demand made through a representation submitted to the District Administration and addressed to the Chief Minister, by ‘Shri Tuljapur ‘Pujari Mandal’s former President Kishore Gangane and Dy. Mayor Tulashidas Sakhare along with other Devi-devotees. Tuljapur Municipality has also submitted the proposal with above demands to the District Collector, considering sentiments of local residents.

It has been stated in the representation that

1. Thousands of devotees visit Tuljapur everyday, it being a place of pilgrimage; but addiction to liquor has been increasing in devotees so also in local residents, leading to illegal activities and wrong deeds.

2. The name of this place of pilgrimage is sacred and is known for being visited by Shri Tuljabhavani Devi might get maligned due to wrong things.

3. Tuljapur municipality had earlier passed a resolution unanimously for imposition of ban on liquor; but it has not been implemented; therefore, order to that effect should be issued at State-level.
