Temple Committee’s report has shocked the religious sentiments of devotees !

Pandharpur (Maharashtra): The Temple Committee has taken a decision that henceforth ‘mahapuja’ would not be performed on the idols of Sree Vitthal-Rukmini so as to prevent erosion of the idols; instead the ‘mahapuja’ would be perfomed on the ‘Utsav-murti’. After Ashadhi Ekadashi festival, no ‘mahapuja’ would be performed till the ‘Utsav-murtis’ are prepared.

The above decision has been taken in the Sree Vithal-Rukmini Temple Committee meeting, informed Shashikant Page, the President of the Committee. He said, “The decision has been taken to prevent erosion of the idols and ‘utsav-murtis’ will be prepared of both the idols. I have been entrusted the responsibility to takle necessary action along with Shri. Jaisingh Mohite-Patil, the other member of the committee. The next meeting of the Committee will be held on 15th August. By that time, both the ‘Utsav-murtis’ will be ready but application for ‘mahapuja’ will not be accepted till then.”
