Ranaragini submits representation to Goa Women’s Commission

Make self-defence training compulsory in schools for prevention of oppression of girls; along with taking action against Ram Gopal Verma for his perverted ‘tweets’ are the main demands

Panaji : Take action against Ram Gopal Verma for his perverted ‘tweets’, make self-defence training compulsory for prevention of oppression of girls, take action against vulgar posters displayed by Kadamba Transport Corporation on their buses and on roads through advertisement boards were some of the demands made by delegation of Ranaragini Division promoted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on meeting Sou. Vidya Shet Tanavade, the President of ‘Goa State Mahila Ayoga’ on 21st March. A delegation of HJS comprised of Sou. Meena Kamat, Sou. Rajashree Gadekar, Sou. Shubha Sawant and Sou. Akshata Kumathekar. Other members of ‘Mahila Ayoga’ were also present on the occasion.

Film producer and director Ram Gopal Verma who is always in news, due to his controversial statements, had remarked, while extending his greetings on the ‘World Women’s Day’ that all women should please men in the same manner as Sunny Leone gives pleasure to men and had exhibited his low, cheap mentality. Ranaragini Division lodged a complaint with police and ‘Goa Rajya Mahila Ayoga’ against such objectionable ‘tweet’ of Verma. After the complaint, Ram Gopal Verma pretended to say sorry on his perverted ‘tweet’ and again posted a derogatory ‘tweet’ on the occasion of ‘Holi’ in a very indecent language. The delegation of Ranaragini Division submitted information to ‘State Mahila Ayoga’ with all proofs.

On receiving complaint from Ranaragini Division, vulgar advertisement boards displayed by Kadamba Transport Corporation have been removed as per the orders of ‘State Mahila Ayoga’. Similar demand has been made to remove lewd hoardings displayed at many places. It is necessary to verify compliance of 40 point- regulations before displaying hoarding at any place but it needs to be examined that there is compliance of all 40 points, informed ‘State Mahila Ayoga’ to the delegation of Ranaragini Division. Recently in an incident, a girl student studying in second standard was kidnapped and raped at Verla, Kanka in Bardesh taluka. A girl student was raped in a school premises at Vasco earlier. It has therefore, become need of the hour to train girls in self-defence in schools, so as to prevent oppression. ‘Mahila Ayoga’ gave positive response to fulfilling all demands made by Ranaragini Division.
