Successful drive undertaken for protection of ‘Khadakvasala’ water reservoir : Activists take oath for increase in stock of water !
Pune : Drive for protection of Khadakvasala water reservoir from chemical colours used on ‘Dhulivandan’ and ‘Rangpanchami’ was successfully undertaken on both these days. It was the 15th year of the drive to prevent water pollution since water is supplied to whole city from this reservoir. The drive on ‘Rangpanchami’ was started with praying to ‘Jaldevata’ in the morning. It is noteworthy of today’s drive that activists and dignitaries taking part in this drive, took an oath for prevention of water pollution and use water economically.
1. Volunteers of HJS, Sanatan’s seekers, employees of ‘Cummins India Ltd.’ and local residents took active part in today’s drive.
2. The local administration also imposed restrictions on getting down in the dam for bath after playing with colours; therefore, the number of youth interested in playing with water was very less. Shri. Saurabh Rao, the District Collector of Pune had also declared in a press conference about restrictions on going to the dam for preventing pollution.
3. ‘Puja’ of Bhagavan Shrikrushna’s picture-frame was performed and the drive was started with praying to ‘Jaldevata’. Shri. Dhondibhau Bhagavat of Irrigation Department and branch engineer Rajkumar Kshirsagar also visited the venue of this drive.
All activists, local residents and dignitaries present on the day of ‘Rangpanchami’ took an oath for protection of water. The oath was ‘Water is life and I will use it economically and only as needed. I will not waste and misuse water. I will protect natural sources, reservoirs, canals and basic facilities provided for water supply. I will meticulously follow all rules and regulations regarding water. I will try to increase and preserve water reservoirs.’

2. There was a 3 minute transmission on radio between 12th and 17th March about this drive.
Few students from engineering branch of Sinhgad College at Kondhava had come to the area of dam when they learnt about the drive for protection of water reservoir and joined for some time by holding the banners on the subject.
