Protest denigration of Lord Ganesha at Frankfurt Book Fair

Letter sent by HJS to Frankfurt Book Fair

||Sree||

Ms. Edalji,

As discussed during our phone conversation a few minutes ago, some irate Hindus brought to our attention a photo from a news item in the Times of India website. It was a photo of a poster of Lord Ganesh on display at the Frankfurt book fair currently underway. Here are our concerns regarding this poster:

 It uses a picture of Lord Ganesh, a worshipped Deity of Hindus.
 The picture of Lord Ganesh is contrary to the form of Lord Ganesh per Hindu Holy texts. The way Lord Ganesh is depicted with over 4 hands, holding computer accessories is downright insulting and hurtful to Hindu sacred sentiments. You are well aware that had the organizers used a poster with pictures of the Muslim Prophet (PBUH), they would have violent agitations on their hands by now. Is this to incite Hindus to take up violence to protect their religious sanctity?
 The bookfair has been going on for a couple of days now and already the damage is done.

We request you and the book fair organizers to prevent further hurting of Hindu sentiments by immediately removing the poster and publish an unconditional apology in place of the poster, so as to prevent a furore from the Hindu community worldwide.

You can visit the rapidly spreading protest campaign initiated a few hours ago over this denigrating poster at:

We await your prompt response by email or the phone number provided to you.
