Shravan Krushna Chaturdashi, Kaliyug Varsha 5113

Mumbai (Maharashtra) : An artificial water tank is set up in ‘Nana Nani’ Garden in Pestom Sagar area at Chembur with the initiative of ‘Senior Citizens Forum’ during Ganesh Festival. Citizens are appealed to immerse Sri Ganesh idols installed by them individually in this water tank. Later, idols immersed in such manner are taken out and broken into pieces to make bricks. A representation was submitted at Chembur Police Station by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) that denigration of the Deity taking place in this manner should be prevented. It has been stated in the representation that ‘In the year 2010, we had brought to your notice denigration of Sri Ganesh idols taking place during Ganesh Festival in the said manner and you had kept strict vigil. This year too, you are requested to take necessary action by instructing the concerned authorities so as to prevent denigration of Sri Ganesh idols as also prevent our religious sentiments from getting hurt.’
