Good response by Mumbai-ites to the appeal of immersion of Ganesh idols in flowing water !

HJS drive ‘Ideal Ganeshotsav Drive’

Mumbai (Maharashtra) : Every year, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) makes an appeal to immerse Sri Ganesh idols in flowing water instead of artificial water tanks. Ganesh-devotees are, therefore, explained the spiritual science behind the same. Such guidance was given by HJS at Shivaji Park (Dadar), Nana – Nani Park, Pestom Sagar (Chembur) and Akurli Mata Mandir [Kandivali (E)] where artificial water tanks have been erected. An appeal was made through hand-bills, boards and signature drive to immerse idols in flowing water. About 45 activists of HJS took part in the drive. More than 1000 Sri Ganesh devotees put their signatures protesting against donation of Sri Ganesh idols.

Feedbacks

Municipality has been hurting religious sentiments of people and misguiding them !

Municipality erected artificial water tanks to prevent pollution of sea-water due to immersion of Sri Ganesh idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP); but later, the Municipality will immerse these idols in the sea only. Will it not then pollute sea-water? This is a kind of misguiding people by the Municipality and hurting their religious sentiments. – Mr. Vishal Pawar, Dadar

What happens to the idols immersed in artificial water tanks? :

Ganesh idol is not just an idol; but our sentiments are also associated with it. All Ganesh-devotees should, therefore, know before start of Ganesh-festival what the Municipality does with such immersed idols. – Mr. Ramesh Khot, Dadar

HJS had set up stalls to distribute drinking water at 3 places at Dadar, Sahakarnagar and Wadala for Ganesh devotees.
